Privacy Policy
Your conversation with God is yours alone.
Last updated: July 11, 2026
Our promise in one paragraph: Simply Lectio collects as little about you as possible — your email address if you sign in, and the journal entries you choose to write. Your journal is private: only you can read it. We don't run ads, we don't use tracking or analytics, and we never sell or share your personal information. You can export or delete everything, any time.
Who we are
Simply Lectio is a contemplative podcast and prayer website (simplylectio.com). For anything related to your personal information, contact us at simplylectio@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address — only if you sign in to the Prayer Journal. We use it solely to send you a secure sign-in link. No newsletters, no marketing, unless you separately ask for them.
- Your journal entries — the reflections and prayers you choose to save. These exist so that you can return to them. They are stored securely and protected so that each person can only ever read, edit, or delete their own entries.
- Basic technical logs — like most websites, our hosting providers keep short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) for security and reliability. We don't use them to identify or profile you.
That's the whole list. Browsing the site — listening to episodes, reading resources — requires no account and collects nothing personal beyond those routine technical logs.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We never read your journal entries. They are your private conversation with God.
- We don't use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. The only thing stored in your browser is the token that keeps you signed in to your journal — it isn't used to track you.
- We don't use your words to train any AI system.
Where your information lives
Journal entries and sign-in emails are stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers located in the United States. The website itself is hosted by Vercel. Fonts load from Google Fonts and one script loads from the jsDelivr content network; like any web request, those services see your IP address when your browser contacts them. Because some of this happens outside Canada, your information may be subject to the laws of those countries while it is stored or processed there.
Links to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Patreon take you to those platforms, which have their own privacy policies.
Your rights and choices
- Export: the journal has one-click export to Markdown or JSON — your words always leave with you.
- Delete entries: you can delete any entry yourself, inside the journal, at any time. Deleted entries are gone — we can't recover them.
- Delete everything: email us at simplylectio@gmail.com and we will permanently delete your account and every entry, normally within 30 days.
- Access and correction: you may ask what personal information we hold about you and request corrections.
Simply Lectio is based in Canada and handles personal information in accordance with PIPEDA (Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). If you have a concern we can't resolve, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
How long we keep things
Your journal entries stay until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Sign-in records are kept only as long as needed to operate the service securely.
Children
Simply Lectio is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created a journal account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we add features that change how personal information is handled — for example, new journal capabilities — we'll update this page and change the date at the top before those features launch. Significant changes will be noted plainly, not buried.
